Article 59(1) of the VAT Executive Regulation lists it. The words "Tax Invoice"; the supplier's name, address and TRN; the customer's name, address and TRN where the customer is VAT-registered; a sequential or unique number; the issue date and, if different, the date of supply; a description of the goods or services; for each line the unit price, quantity, rate of tax and amount in dirhams; any discount; the gross amount in dirhams; the tax in dirhams, with the exchange rate where an amount was converted; and, where the customer is required to account for the tax, a statement saying so with a reference to the relevant provision of the Decree-Law. The checklist beside the form ticks each item as you fill it in, and the tool prints only what you enter. Simplified tax invoices (Article 59(2)) are not covered by this tool. You stay responsible for what you issue.
A quotation offers a price and says how long it holds. A proforma invoice tells the customer what they will be charged before the supply happens. Neither is a tax invoice. A tax invoice is the document that carries the Article 59(1) particulars and the VAT charged.
Article 69 of the VAT law converts an invoice in another currency into dirhams at the exchange rate approved by the Central Bank on the date of supply. Article 59(1)(k) of the Executive Regulation adds that a tax invoice shows the VAT payable in dirhams with the exchange rate applied. For the date you choose, this generator uses the Central Bank table for that day. If there is no table for that day, it uses the latest earlier table it holds and says so on the document. Before or after the dates it holds, it asks you to type the Central Bank rate and the date of its table, and prints what you typed.
Under Ministerial Decision No. 66 of 2026, which amends No. 244 of 2025, a business with revenue of AED 50 million or more must appoint an accredited service provider by 30 October 2026 and implement e-invoicing by 1 January 2027. Other businesses appoint one by 31 March 2027 and implement by 1 July 2027, and government entities by 1 October 2027. Voluntary adoption has been open since 1 July 2026. Check which date applies to you.
Article 61 of the Executive Regulation allows VAT worked out to a fraction of a fils to be rounded to the nearest fils. The generator works out VAT on each line and rounds it to the nearest fils, with half a fils rounding up. The totals are the sums of the printed lines, so every figure on the document adds up.
Every figure on this page comes from the rules below, checked 17 October 2026.
