Commerce is where what you sell is defined - the catalogue that Sales quotes from, Finance invoices against, and Operations delivers.
Products And Services Are One Catalogue
The split you see in the menu is a view, not two systems. Products and Services are the same catalogue, separated by how each item is delivered:
| Delivery | Means |
|---|---|
| Ship | A physical item that moves and can run out |
| Scheduled service | Work delivered on a date, booked into a calendar |
| Digital | Delivered without shipping or scheduling |
That matters because it decides which behaviours apply. Something that ships has stock. Something scheduled has bookings and stages. Something digital has neither.
One item, one record, filed by how it reaches the customer.

What Is Still Being Built
Marked in the menu as coming, and named here so you are not left wondering:
Products - Stock Movements, Procurement, Fulfillment, Manufacturing, and product Reports. Services - Subscriptions and service Reports. Channels - Storefront and POS.
Keep in mind
These appear in the menu during the build-out so you can see where the module is going. They are not working surfaces yet. If you need procurement or a storefront today, plan around them rather than waiting on a screen that is not finished.
How It Connects
Sales quotes from the catalogue. A deal's line items reference a product, carrying quantity, unit price, discount and tax.
Finance invoices those line items, and the tax category on a product decides how tax is applied.
Bookings schedule a service into a calendar.
Operations delivers, where a service has stages.
Where To Start
- Set up the catalogue - items with prices, currencies and tax categories.
- Set delivery models so each item behaves correctly.
- Add stock levels for anything that ships.
- Define stages for services delivered in steps.
- Set payment plans where payment is staged.
Common Questions
Do we need Commerce to sell? If you sell a small number of things, deals can carry them as line descriptions. A catalogue pays off when the same items recur, prices change, or you want to report by product.
Can one item be both? An item has one delivery model. Something sold both ways is two records, priced separately - which is usually what you want anyway.
Where do subscriptions live? Recurring billing is in Finance today. The Subscriptions surface here is still being built.
Is there a storefront? Not yet. It is in the menu because it is planned, not because it is available.
