Sync Chat is your team's internal messaging. Channels for topics, direct messages for people, calls when typing is slower than talking.
The difference from a standalone chat tool is what it sits next to. A conversation here can be anchored to a deal, a ticket or an employee record, so the discussion and the thing being discussed stop living in separate applications.
Finding your way
A rail down the side holds:
Home, everything needing your attention in one place.
DMs, one-to-one and small group conversations.
Channels, topic or team rooms anyone in scope can join.
Hubs, rooms scoped to a location if your organisation runs several.
Calendar, Files and Calls, the same material filtered to this context.
Directory, everyone you can reach.
Customer Support, a direct line to NearSync when you need us.
Channels or DMs
The rule that keeps a workspace readable: if the answer would be useful to somebody who is not in the conversation, it belongs in a channel.
DMs are for things that are genuinely between two people. Most work questions are not, and the cost of a DM is that the answer disappears with it.
Presence
People show as available, away or busy, and you can set your own. Presence is a courtesy rather than a monitor: it tells a colleague whether to expect a fast reply, nothing more.
What it costs
Nothing. Messages, channels, calls, files and search are ordinary features.
Asking the assistant to summarise a thread or draft a reply spends credits, because that is a language model reading for you. Everything else here is free however much you use it.
