When To Export

• Before any large change. An import, a bulk edit, a migration. This is your undo.
• For an accountant or auditor. They want a file, not a login.
• For analysis elsewhere, if you want to work in a spreadsheet.
• As a periodic backup, if your policy calls for it.

1. Choose what to export.
2. Run the export.
3. Store it somewhere appropriate.

Handle Exports Carefully

An export is your data with the platform's access controls removed. Once it is a file on a laptop, RLS, roles, hub scope and audit logging no longer apply.

• Store it somewhere access-controlled, not a desktop or a personal drive.
• Delete it when done. An export from March sitting in a downloads folder is a standing risk with no remaining purpose.
• Think before emailing one. Attaching a full contact export to an email sends your customer list through systems you do not control.
• Remember it does not update. An export is a photograph. Anyone working from last month's file is working from last month.

Your Data Is Yours

Nothing here is locked in. You can take your data out in a standard format at any time, which is how it should be - a platform that makes leaving hard is relying on the wrong thing.

Common Questions

Does the export include custom fields? Yes. They are ordinary fields.

Can I schedule a recurring export? Report exports can be scheduled. For a full data export, run it when you need it.

Does exporting affect anything? No. It reads.

Can I export everything at once? Export by record type. Everything in one file would be unusable anyway - relationships between records do not survive a single flat sheet.
