Everything else here depends on this. Until a number is connected there is no inbox.
Connecting
Connection runs through Meta's own signup, opened from Settings. You sign in with Facebook, pick or create the business number, and Meta hands it back to NearSync.
You are talking to Meta during that flow, not to us. If it reports an error, the cause is on their side of the fence: a business that is not verified, a number already registered elsewhere, or a permission the account holder does not have.
Use a number that is not already on the WhatsApp app. A number in use on a personal phone cannot become a business number without being removed from that device first, and people discover this halfway through.
Two-step verification
Set a six digit PIN on the number itself, at Meta.
This is separate from anything in NearSync. It protects the number from being moved to another platform by somebody who gains access to the Meta account, and it is the single most valuable five minutes of setup here.
Record it somewhere your organisation will still have it in a year. Meta will ask for it again at moments you cannot predict.
After connecting
Four things want doing before the number is announced anywhere:
- Complete the business profile, since it is the first thing people check
- Set business hours and what happens outside them
- Write your templates, because approval takes time
- Set routing, so arriving messages have an owner
The order matters. Templates in particular are the one with a lead time you cannot compress.
