Tasks The follow-up work that comes out of deals: a board, nine task types, and a scope toggle for what you are looking at.

Every call to return, proposal to send and meeting to book is a task. They live on a board of their own, and on the deal they belong to.

The Board

Four columns: Pending, In Progress, Overdue and Completed. Drag a card between them to change its status. Overdue cards carry how many days past due they are, so a task that slipped yesterday looks different from one that slipped three weeks ago.

A scope toggle at the top decides what you are looking at:

  • My tasks - only yours
  • Team tasks - everyone on your team
  • All tasks - the whole organisation

Creating One

A task carries a title, a type, a priority, a due date, the deal, contact or organisation it belongs to, and the person it is assigned to.

Tip

Link the task to its deal when you create it. That is what makes it appear on the deal record, so someone opening the deal sees the outstanding work without going looking for it.

The Nine Types

Typing a task is not bureaucracy - it is what lets you see that a rep has fourteen proposals to send and no meetings booked.

Type Use it for
General Anything that does not fit below
Follow-up Call Returning a call, or following up after one
Send Proposal Drafting and sending a proposal
Schedule Meeting Booking time with a client
Send Invoice Raising an invoice from the deal
Review Document Checking a contract or proposal before it goes out
Client Onboarding Setting up a client after the deal closes
Research Background work before an engagement
Internal Work that never touches the client

Working Them

The fastest way to create a task is from the deal itself, using the action bar on the record - see Deal Records. It arrives already linked, already in context.

Tasks can also be created automatically. A pipeline can raise a follow-up when a deal goes stale, which is the difference between noticing a cold deal and doing something about it. See Pipeline Settings.

Common Questions

What is the difference between a task and a note? A note records something that happened. A task records something that must happen, with an owner and a date. Notes are backward-looking, tasks are forward-looking, and both sit on the deal.

Does completing a task move the deal? No. Tasks track work, stages track the deal. Moving a deal is always a deliberate act.

Who sees my tasks? Anyone using the team or organisation scope. Tasks are work, not private notes.
