Booking links that route to the right person.
Give each kind of meeting its own booking link, its own length and its own rule for who takes it: round robin across a team, or collective when everyone has to be there.
The calendar is held, the person is a contact, the confirmation has gone and the reminder is scheduled. A standalone scheduling tool would have given you an invite.

Who can do what.
Anyone can set their own hours and take bookings. Creating a meeting type, assigning it to a team or changing who takes it touches other people's calendars, so those jobs need a higher role.

Change routing rules and confirmation emails.
Admin is the highest role and is not limited by these permissions, so keep it to the few people who genuinely need it.
One booking, start to finish
An appointment booked inside a chat, without leaving it.
A client asked for time in the chat, and real slots appeared right there. Every time shown was one the next person in turn was genuinely free, and the moment the client picked one the calendar was booked, the contact was created and the confirmation was on its way.
The chat recognises they want to book, and shows real time slots right there in the conversation.
